Top Places to Watch the World Cup in Ipswich this Summer

With the FIFA World Cup 2026 now underway in the US, Canada, and Mexico, football fans from across the world will be gathering in the hopes of 'It's coming home' to finally ring true this time. With the UK Government's confirmed new opening times for watching (and boozing) across the country, where in Ipswich are the hot spots to enjoy the commotion?

Isaacs on the Quay

An obvious choice to watch games, with a buzzing atmosphere and a lively location.

Situated on the Ipswich Docks, Isaacs is a popular choice for football fans throughout the year and guarantees good vibes for the World Cup. It's also ideal for visiting fans as it is a short walk away from Ipswich Train Station, with plenty of transport links to get around.

All games will be shown during Iasac's opening hours (8 am-10 pm Sundays, 8 am-11 pm Monday-Thursday, 8 am-12 am Friday-Saturday) with extended opening times during England games, likely closing after the final whistle. Expect normal food services up until 5 pm, then a brand new World Cup Menu will be available after five in takeaway style.

Ipswich also has several top sports bars that are, naturally, a great option for World Cup watching.

Boom Battle Bar - Located just inside The Buttermarket Shopping Centre, Boom Battle Bar is offering free tickets for England's first three games of the tournament, £5 pints and £10 meal deals. Good vibes are guaranteed.  

The Shamrock - Traditional Irish Pub with the best Guinesses in town. The Shamrock will open for all games of the tournament, the team are preparing drinks and food deals with a side of football all June and July.

Portman Road Fanzone - As always, Portman Road will be hosting the World Cup Fanzone, where fans can purchase a ticket for £15 in advance online. Each ticket price will grant ticketholders credit for the food and drink outlets on site.

Finally, if you are a bit of a traditionalist, Ipswich has so many pubs to choose from, but here are a select few dotted around the town you could slide tackle your way to.

The Halberd - a central town option, with classic pub vibes and open for every England game. Spacious outdoors and indoors options available!

The Plough - if themed menus and bulk buying beers is your thing, The Plough is a fitting choice with a brand new World Cup menu including Loaded Canadian Fries, Loaded American Cheese Burgers Fries, and Loaded Mexican Spicy Waffle Fries, sidelined with a brand new Miami Peach Lemonade, then look no further. 'Pick your Six' buckets of Beers are also available, so you don't miss a second of football.

Royal George - For you Rushmere folk, the Royal George is offering four pints of Guinness or Birra Moretti for £15, just book your table to be eligible for beers on arrival. Buy one, get one free options are also available on Royal George cocktails, as well as further deals to be revealed on wines, spirits, soft drinks, and ciders.

Man on the Moon - Last but not least, Man on the Moon for the dales/crofts lot, except lots of Greene King offers coming soon on Drinks, Food, and all things football summer.
